Beetles have no olfactories

I have just seen a dung beetle on the road rolling it’s dung ball smoothly, twice it’s own size. Where is beetle taking the ball? Apparently to some hole where wife beetle is waiting anxiously.

Wonder how the ball can be so smoothly rounded .Probably the rounding takes place in rolling.

Dung ball is something not to be scoffed at.It is important for the beetle.Its smell matters little to the beetle.Beetles may be having no noses to smell.
